In the first quarter of 2017, PUBG corporation dropped a battle royale bomb that shook the gaming world. It wasn’t too long before Epic Games, yet another developer/studio, presented a competitor to PUBG, Fortnite.
Very soon, Fortnite started leading the Battle Royale genre and gamers (mostly kids and teenagers) made it a big deal. For a time being, it had become one of the most played game of all time. PUBG, didn’t lack behind and hardcore players who loved bloodshed of Call of Duty and Counter Strike like games, soon took a dive into it.
The response was so overwhelming that PUBG overtook Fortnite and any other previous game in terms of most players playing the game at one time. What made PUBG special was obvious. Extreme realism, graphics and science that PUBG corporation took into account was surreal.
However, in the fire of PUBG and Fortnite, a new contender ‘Realm Royale’, developed by Hi-rez studios got overshadowed. But was this game any good or is it another fish in the barrel. Mohit Bansal Chandigarh, talks about it in detail.
What‘s Realm Royale?
This game was earlier known as Paladins: Battlegrounds. A game where any player could choose the role of any class and with class specific abilities. It only varied for one reason, it was battle royale, too. One could easily call it a ditto or clone due to obvious reasons and its similarity with other battle royale games (PUBG and Fortnite to name). There was one difference that set Realm Royale apart from the rest.
Here, you don’t collect weapons or armors instead you get gather power and abilities and create your own class character in each match you play. If you think Fortnite’s building structure mechanism is cool, FYI, Realm Royale has power, magic and guess what, horses as well.
Another great aspect about the game is its In-game forges. How forges works? Well, the game has its own currency goes by the name ‘Shards’ and you collect shards by Disenchanting (dismantle, disassemble) items/gears. Players can dismantle unnecessary items meaning, if one should find a gear but has not any use for it, one shouldn’t leave it there.
Mohit Bansal Chandigarh says, the balance this game maintains between finding gears/items and disenchanting them and even obtaining a forge, sets a different tone for the Realm Royale.
What are Horses There For?
PUBG and Fortnite have vehicles located at different places of the map. It making players travel from one place or another easy. Finding a vehicle on the other hand, is not. That’s where Realm Royale gets and edge over the two. Once you get a horse, you don’t have to tag it along all the time. Just summon it whenever you need it and voila, there she is. You don’t have to search for a vehicle or any other mean of transportation. Your transportation is at your fingertips.
Another twist, If your health completed vanished, you go into a knocked state and what the game calls chicken state. Manage to survive for 30 seconds then you can revived again. It’s a little different than PUBG (obviously) where you need a teammate to revive you or you die.
In conclusion, the game might appear a copy of the renowned battle royale games. There’re still a lot different about the Realm Royale and hence making it different than others.
